FARLEY
ARTIST | PHILANTHROPIST | WANDERER
Grassy sand dunes winding down to the Hamptons shoreline. A Savannah lighthouse keeping a watchful eye. Neatly stacked rows of vines ripening in a Portuguese vineyard. Juicy slices of citrus recalling a summer’s day in Palm Beach. Cobalt blue steps traversing through the alleyways of Morocco...
Farley Rentschler has traveled the world over and been so inspired by each sojourn that she can’t help but come back home and memorialize each destination through her art. Postcards from Farley is a peek into the mind and eye of an artist—a lover of life and all its delicious moments.

“I’m endlessly inspired by the way Slim Aarons created time capsules with his camera lens. I love visiting beautiful places and want to capture them so I can share them with the world and show how magical our planet is—to inspire people to travel, to see the beautiful in the everyday, to pause, to contemplate.
“I love color and when I’m painting, I tend to combine pigments that are bold and contrasting. And I love seeing a beautiful interior that is unique and has not been photographed before, or taking something that has been photographed and giving it a fresh take.
“My matchbook series is perhaps the most nostalgic of all of my works. I’ve been collecting matchbooks since I was 12 years old, even though I’m terrified of fire. It’s not about smoking; it’s about collecting a memory of a fabulous dinner out with friends. I want people to look at my collages and say, ‘Oh! I remember that place! What a great time we had there.” —Farley

“Being creative is a yearning. It’s something I’m compelled to do every day. If an entire day has gone by and I haven’t done something creative, I don’t feel complete."
